Where most people just saw old metal and glass, John recognized an artistic flourish amongst the piles of streetlights a friend had lying about. These became a light source and work of art rolled into one when John arranged them like flowers springing forth from the earth or, in this case, a repurposed manhole cover. While this series includes similar pieces – as well as single lights that can be bolted to the wall – no two are alike, each with its own distinct look. This one was featured in Toronto Life as a top-ten International Design Show work.
